PRODUCTION MEETING (after 1st visual effects attempt)

1)What went wrong- at first we tried to shoot it with me throwing the tennis ball and it was difficult to make to shot look the way we wanted because it was hard to get the right projectory and speed. it was also hard to make the over the shoulder shot work but it did in the end.

2)What we struggled with- On after effects we found it hard to make the ball look realistic when we tried to edit it in. It wasn't the right exact colour and the speed of the ball was hard to make it look natural it took trial and error to make it look good.

3)We need to learn the best way to make an the tennis ball special effect. We had 3 or 4 ways we were thinking about trying but only tested out 2 in the end and it was hard to tell before we tried them which would work best and which one would be the easiest to do. We have learnt a bit about how to do colour correction in AE and that is very useful but we need to be able to do it a bit better

4) The assets we need will be a green screen, some kind of box to sit on. Also we will need a tennis ball.

Visual effects research

In our script we will be using a special effect at the beginning that will make it look like Sam is floating on his bed. For this we will use a green screen and have him sitting on a box covered by green sheet just higer than the bed should be so it looks like he is floating. The background image will be of a bedroom. This video gives an idea of how to do it

We are also making one of the characters use telekinesis to make a ball float in mid air. this video shows how an effect like this can be achieved.

Our production meeting was me Luke and Amy. Our main objectives were to decide on what script we were going to use and what, if any changes we needed to make to it. In the end we decided to go with Amy's script because we felt it was the most developed with the most dialog. We also decided to include special effects and some other ideas from mine that we thought would work well.
