Misfits opening scene dialog analysis

In the opening scene of misfits dialog is mostly used to build characters but also to set the scene, establish genre and entertain.

Nathan-  Has an overall child like image to him. His tone is mocking towards the probation worker. He is mocking the person in authority wich immediatly makes the viewer think of him as one of the main characters and makes them interested in what he says. Nathan has an southern irish accent it makes him sound quite charming and likeable even when he is being confrontational it is hard to see him as a bad person.  Nathan also does not swear wich backs up his image of being friendly 

Kelly- she is seen at the 'chav' of the group because of her dialog. We are encoraged to think about the way she talks because of the response of Nathan making fun of her voice. Her accent sounds lower class. She has a confrontational tone to her voice but this is only when she is trying to defend her self and when she asks 'what makes you think you're better than us' shows that she is proud of who she is and where she has come from

Gary- He has an aggressive tone throughout. H e seems to be from the same class as Kelly but he shows more violence than any other member of the group. His volume raises a lot when he is being held back which suggests he is not actually going to hurt anybody. He could be seen a quite insecure because of the way his voice takes an aggressive tone and his volume raises when he is mocked by Nathan

Curtis- Curtis is one of the quietest in this scene. The first thing he says is clearly thought out and said calmly. He is seen as thoughtful and quite controlled rather than getting angry. This is because of his quite volume and non aggressive relaxed tone of voice. It is hard to tell what class he is from because he doesn't reveal a lot about himself in his dialog

Simon- He doesn't say anything. This by its self helps show what kind of person he is. He is quite and seems quite secretive. His buttons are done up to the top and he is keeping him self to him self. When his name is mentioned he winces and looks embarrassed and shy. Like he is trying to avoid conversation

Aleisha- Aleisha's tone is loud and can be seen as rude and inconsiderate. She is rude to the probation worker by talking on the phone. She also swears although it is not directed at anyone so we dont think of her as necessarily a bad person. She speaks with lower middle class accent. She has a rude tone and seems very laid back and not caring about her situation and she also laughs at one point at the fight and this can make her seem quite childish.
